Mutilation Surgeon
The Mutilation Surgeons are an amazing and incredible group of demons, and interestingly, they’re not all Mutilation Demons. They originally started with a Mutilation Demon who wanted to assemble an advanced archive of medical knowledge, healing practices, and techniques. His goal was to refine this knowledge and create a group of demons who were absolute masters of healing, physiology, the body, and the mind, especially when it came to the more medicinal healing arts.
This particular demon was incredibly skilled at surgery and working with his hands. He was brilliant at fixing things, healing injuries, mending others, and tending to wounds. He wanted to train others and create a centralized base of medical knowledge that all Mutilation Surgeons could draw upon. He was also an absolute perfectionist. He wanted only the best of the best, and he envisioned a strict, rigorous, and incredibly challenging training program that very few candidates would be able to complete. The training to become a Mutilation Surgeon is absolutely intense. It takes years upon years, and when candidates first enter the program, there are usually tens of thousands of them. By the end, only a handful graduate, sometimes as few as one and generally around three to ten. That’s how rigorous and challenging the program is. Because of this, the Mutilation Surgeons are considered the best of the best. They’re absolute paragons of health, wellness, and medical knowledge. They’re incredibly skilled and brilliant, having studied countless species, diseases, and methods of surgical practice. They’re constantly developing, refining, and improving their techniques, always pushing themselves toward greater mastery and excellence.
Mutilation surgeons study medical knowledge extensively, including the anatomy and physiology of different species. They learn how different bodies function, how their organs and blood work, and how their energies interact with their flesh. They study the relationship between energy and the physical body, understanding how these two systems work together. Due to this, they’re skilled in both physical and psychic surgical practices. They understand the correlation between the two and how to practice medicine in a way that’s adaptable and suited to the individual needs of whoever they’re treating. They’re exceptionally skilled at surgery. Their hands are steady, their techniques are flawless, and they practice constantly. They repeat their techniques over and over until they’ve mastered them.
One reason Mutilation Demons are particularly good at surgery is because they often experiment with flesh. They practice different sewing and surgical techniques, including altering their own flesh. They may alter their bodies countless times, developing an incredibly detailed understanding of how flesh works. This gives them a unique advantage when it comes to surgical practices. However, the Mutilation Surgeons aren’t limited to Mutilation Demons only. Interestingly, the demon who founded the program is only half Mutilation Demon himself.
The program is open to all demon species capable of meeting its requirements. A higher percentage of Mutilation Demons entered because the schools are located within the Mutilation Realm, but other demons have also attended and graduated. They’ve had Lowborn, Hellborn, Necrosis Demons, Crypt Demons, and other demon species complete the program. Graduating with honors is incredibly difficult, and most candidates are simply happy to graduate at all. The training is known for breaking its candidates. It’s rigorous, relentless, and absolutely ruthless. You can begin with tens of thousands of candidates and end up with only three to ten graduates in a year. But as a result, those who graduate are extraordinarily skilled. They know exactly what they’re doing and have developed incredible mastery over their techniques and practices.
Once they’ve completed their training, Mutilation Surgeons can pursue different specialties. Some specialize in surgery, others in psychiatry, and others in diseases and pathology. It depends on the individual and what interests them. After graduation, they continue expanding their knowledge and pursuing the areas they’re most passionate about. Their education doesn’t simply end when they graduate. They continue researching, practicing, and refining their skills.
Within the Mutilation Realm, there are places known as asylums, and these are where the Mutilation Surgeons work. The asylums are usually overseen by a head surgeon, a council of surgeons, or several surgeons working together. Some smaller asylums have only one surgeon overseeing the entire facility, while larger asylums have multiple surgeons who collaborate and manage different aspects of the work. These asylums are places where those who are injured, sick, or considered hopeless cases can go for treatment. Sometimes there are diseases or ailments that are considered impossible to treat elsewhere, and those individuals are brought to the asylums. Depending on what’s wrong, a patient might be transferred to another asylum where there’s a surgeon who specializes in that particular condition. The surgeons work together and collaborate, calling upon one another when they need additional knowledge or expertise.
They have their own peer groups and professional relationships, and many of them know other demonic surgeons. They often have very good working relationships with one another, especially when it comes to exchanging medical knowledge and discussing difficult cases. One of the things that distinguishes the Mutilation Surgeons from the Night Surgeons is their centralized system of information. The Mutilation Surgeons maintain shared databases and archives of medical knowledge, allowing them to collaborate, exchange research, and draw upon the discoveries of other surgeons. The Mutilation Demon who founded the order would argue that the Mutilation Surgeons are far more sophisticated and that their methods are superior to those of the Night Surgeons. Of course, the Night Surgeons would disagree. There’s a bit of a rivalry between the two groups, which is actually pretty funny. The Night Surgeons believe their methods are better because they’re less confined by established standards, while the Mutilation Surgeons believe their methods are superior precisely because they follow rigorous standards, maintain centralized databases, and collaborate extensively. They have different philosophies and schools of thought when it comes to medicine, and it’s fascinating to see how their approaches differ.
The Mutilation Surgeons centralize their information and regularly call upon specialists who have developed expertise in particular areas. They have many discussions and debates, sometimes quite intense intellectual debates. What an intellectual considers a fiery debate might not seem particularly fiery to a warrior. But for the surgeons, an exchange of words and competing ideas can become quite intense, depending on the arguments being made. They’re brilliant and creative thinkers. They’re exceptionally skilled with their hands and their techniques, and they’re incredibly focused and dedicated. They tend to have excellent memories and are very good at studying, retaining information, and applying the knowledge they’ve acquired. Their medical knowledge is absolutely phenomenal.
Mutilation surgeons have an understanding of the body, mind, and emotions, as well as how the spirit and soul integrate with the physical body. They study how all these systems work simultaneously, understanding how everything connects and functions together. Some Mutilation Surgeons are fascinated by organs, flesh, and the internal workings of the body. Others specialize in bones, while some become deeply interested in one very particular area of anatomy. For example, there’s one Mutilation Surgeon who’s absolutely obsessed with knees and kneecaps. That’s his particular fascination. He studies knees, kneecaps, how they function, and what happens to them over time. They can become incredibly focused on these very specific subjects, expanding their research and knowledge until they’ve developed an extraordinary understanding of that particular area.
They’re quite obsessive in this way, but also incredibly devoted to their practices. They love medicine, medical research, and expanding their understanding of how the body works. They’re constantly learning, experimenting, and improving their techniques, always striving to become better at what they do. The Mutilation Surgeons, are an absolutely brilliant and incredible group of demons who have devoted themselves to mastering medicine, healing, and the surgical arts.
