Mutilation Raven

Mutilation Raven

Mutilation ravens are a strange type of raven-like creature with wings, mutilations, multiple eyes, and some really fascinating features. They come from the Mutilation Realm and are harbingers of death, harbingers of change, and bringers of the Shift.

These birds have incredible sight. They perceive and see things that most cannot, and their multiple eyes allow them to peer into other dimensions and realms. Their sight allows them to look beyond what is normally visible, into the darkness, and see what’s coming. They can tell when darkness is about to rise within the Mutilation Realm and when the Shift is approaching. That’s one of the things they’re most known for.

The Mutilation Realm has alarm systems that warn when the Shift is coming, but before those systems existed, the demons would watch these birds. Many mutilation demons would keep ravens around because they could sense when the Shift was about to happen. They would call out and make a very specific sound that revealed the approaching change. In fact, the alarm system is based on the warnings these ravens originally gave.

They’re incredibly insightful and perceptive. They see things others cannot, peer into the darkness, and look beyond the veil. They see the monsters that lurk there and understand the shadows and the darkness. They perceive what’s happening, why things are rising, and why energies are shifting. They can tell when doom is approaching, making them very prophetic creatures.

They often see the strands and strings of energy and recognize when something is coming. They can give warnings and insight into these things, revealing what’s happening and what may emerge from the shadows. They’re especially good at perceiving the depths of darkness and the shadows, bringing clarity and understanding to what’s hidden within them. They often see in multiple layers, shifts, and folds that others cannot perceive. Because they’re part of the Mutilation Realm, they have a unique understanding of mutilation and the mutilated essence. They understand how darkness works within the realm, how it weaves and folds, the lessons it brings, and the monsters that rise from it. They understand how darkness shifts the world and how it mixes and blends with different energies and aspects of existence. It’s a very interesting energy and a fascinating way of perceiving the world.

They are often regarded as fortune tellers or seers because they can foresee events and recognize when something is about to happen. If a mutilation raven gives a warning, the demons will listen. They know the raven has seen something in the darkness that someone else might have missed. Because of this, they’re seen as prophetic creatures with a remarkable ability to perceive hidden things. They’re watchers and observers. They observe the shadows, the energies, and everything happening around them. Their observations give them a different perspective and understanding of the world. Sometimes they’ll simply sit there, almost entranced by what they’re watching, studying the movements and changes unfolding around them.

They also know how to keep themselves safe. Usually, they’ll give their warnings and then retreat before the Shift happens, or they’ll conceal and protect themselves so they can remain safe. They don’t just know when doom is coming; they also know how to avoid it or shield themselves from it. What’s interesting is that many of them enjoy watching others fall and succumb to doom. Some enjoy observing the Shift and seeing what happens when darkness rises and the frenzy takes hold of mutilation demons who have decided to remain outside. They’ll watch and observe everything that unfolds.

Some mutilation ravens are collectors. They collect interesting objects, objects connected to death energies, souls, shiny things, and sometimes even coins. It really depends on the individual raven and what they’re drawn to. They have that familiar raven quality of being attracted to interesting or shiny objects, although not all of them collect the same things.

They also see beyond the realms that many people find sane and peaceful. They can perceive realms of insanity and madness, and they have a certain immunity to these energies. They have an immunity to things that would turn other people’s stomachs or that others would find disturbing or distasteful. It’s almost as though they simply observe without being deeply affected by what they’re witnessing. They’ve seen so much and understand so many different layers of darkness that these things no longer unsettle them. They know the darkness exists, and they understand that turning a blind eye to it doesn’t make it disappear. So they watch and observe, and these things cease to bother them. To them, it’s simply another facet of life, another facet of existence.

They’ll also give warnings to those they like, allowing them time to escape. That’s why they make a very specific call when the Shift is about to happen. They’re warning the mutilation demons that the change is coming. Some mutilation demons desire the energies of the Shift. They’ll allow the darkness to take them and enter a frenzy. Others will seek shelter, hide, and conceal themselves until it’s over. The ravens give them the opportunity to recognize what’s approaching and respond accordingly.

Mutilation ravens can also travel to different places. They don’t just see into other realms of darkness; they can move through them as well. Their wings allow them to soar through these realms while remaining relatively safe. They’re not completely protected from every danger, but they understand how to keep themselves safe through flight, shielding, and maintaining a certain standards of protection. This allows them to enter very dark and sinister realms without succumbing to the trauma, terrors, and horrors found within them. They enjoy watching and observing these realms, and some of them enjoy traveling into these darker spaces to explore what’s there.

Some mutilation ravens also collect souls. They’ll gather the souls or energies of individuals who have fallen within the shadows and carry them away. This creates a very interesting dynamic with the reanimators. Sometimes a reanimator will find a body but discover that the soul or energy needed for reanimation is missing. They’ll then have to find out which raven claimed it and track that raven down so they can retrieve the soul’s energy and successfully reanimate the fallen individual. The ravens will actually claim these souls, take them away, and keep them within their own sanctuaries or homes. So sometimes the reanimators have to search for the raven who has taken the particular soul they’re looking for.

They’re a very fascinating group of creatures, especially because of their connection to foresight, prophecy, and divination. They have their own methods of divination and unique ways of perceiving the energies around them. Like good ravens, many of them enjoy collecting interesting and shiny things, although not all of them are drawn to the same objects.
