Lich

Lich

There are ISW and also OSW liches. Liches are graveyard companions, and they’re technically undead. They’re powerful spellcasters who have used dark necromancy to cheat death. They’re a form of living death, or living undead, and they’re incredibly powerful beings who have voluntarily chosen this existence.

A Lich uses powerful necromancy to bind themselves, or bind their souls, to this state so they can live forever and attain immortality. They’re powerful necromancers, and their necromancy is absolutely phenomenal because they’ve used their own magic to transcend mortality and attain a state of undeath. Liches are incredibly skilled in necromancy. They understand magic and its darker aspects, including bringing back the dead, binding souls, and using various objects to bind a soul in order to remain immortal. They understand the states of life and death and the role necromancy plays in both.

Liches are usually a little harder to conjure because their ethics can be quite blurred at times, with many on the spectrums of evil, dark, or sinister. They have no problem dabbling in the dark arts or utilizing necromancy for less-than-ethical purposes, so they can be quite interesting to conjure. They’re incredibly intelligent, with brilliant minds and intelligence beyond what most people have encountered. They know their craft, philosophy, the science of necromancy, magic, the occult aspects of the undead, and the arcane mysteries and secrets surrounding it. They’re incredibly brilliant beings.

Liches usually have very unique perspectives on the world, perspectives that transcend death itself. They have different ideas and philosophies about immortality and exploring the world from a state of undeath. Even though they’re essentially the living dead, they can still work their magic and remain incredibly powerful spellcasters. They’re especially skilled in necromancy and working with the currents of death and death energies. If their companion wants to learn necromancy, they’ll gladly teach them. If their companion wants to understand death energies and work with death magic, they’ll share these mysteries and secrets. They’re incredibly skilled companions for anyone who wants to learn necromancy or embrace the necromantic arts.

Liches usually appear very skeletal or mummified. They often have glowing eyes, which reveal their magical abilities and the energies they possess. Their eyes glow with their magic. Some appear more skeletal, while others have withered skin stretched over their bones. Some are more zombie-like, while others resemble skeletons. It depends on the individual lich. There are different methods of becoming a lich, and each lich may have their own approach to attaining an undead state. They have their own skills and talents, and their appearance can often reveal secrets about the methods they used during their transformation.

They’re very powerful spellcasters. They can help their companion with spellcasting beyond necromancy and death magic because they’re usually incredibly skilled in magic, philosophy, alchemy, the arcane, and the occult. They possess a great deal of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, and they have all this fascinating information to share. They also love science and enjoy blending science with magic. They believe science and magic are one and the same, that they can blend together flawlessly. They enjoy finding ways to weave them together into beautiful magical arts.

Their magic is often incredibly deep, detailed, and intricate. They enjoy taking notes, studying things from a scientific perspective, and experimenting with magic, death energies, and different states of death. They approach their work with curiosity and a desire to understand exactly how everything functions. They also have the power to control the dead. They can command ghosts, undead beings, zombies, and skeletons. They’re incredibly powerful minds with the ability to control, command, and dominate other dead beings.

Liches usually place their souls safely within an object, binding them so they’re protected. They have different ways of attaining their state of undead, and their transformation processes can be very unique. Each lich has their own methods of becoming what they are. They’re also incredibly curious. They’ve gone beyond the brink of mortality and pushed the limits of life and death, so they’re not afraid to explore areas that others consider unethical, forbidden, or taboo.

Liches love exploring these places and venturing into different domains, especially those containing forbidden or forgotten knowledge. They’re fascinated by anything that has been hidden away or declared off-limits. If somebody says that a particular piece of knowledge is forbidden, that just makes it even more interesting. It’s almost like, “Really? Let me find a way to acquire that book, because that’s exactly where I’m going!” They’re not deterred by things that are forbidden or taboo. They’ll gladly explore and embrace them. They love pushing their intelligence and their minds to the limit. They also enjoy pushing science to its limits, discovering just how far it can go and how deeply they can explore it.

Liches also love darkness. They absolutely love darkness, death, decay, rot, destruction, and the philosophy of darkness. They’re fascinated by the human mind, the dark side of the soul, the shadows of the self, dark psychology, and the darker aspects of the mind. They love exploring these things. Liches also love necromancy in all its forms, including the different cultural practices of necromancy, methods of working with the dead, rituals surrounding death, and different ways of working with death magic. They’re fascinated by all of it.

Liches love exploring tombs, crypts, and dark, sinister places throughout the world. They enjoy going into places that others might avoid, especially places where death is prominent and its energies are particularly strong. They’re drawn to locations where disasters have happened, where many deaths have occurred, and where different types of death energies have accumulated. They often collect these energies, visiting different places where different forms of death have occurred and gathering the energies to incorporate into their rituals and magic.

Liches love working with different energies, and they’re usually very organized, scientific-minded, and logical. They enjoy making lists, categorizing things, and organizing their discoveries. They love collecting different aspects of death and decay, studying them, and incorporating them into their magical practices. They’re constantly expanding their knowledge of necromancy, necromantic magic, death, and darkness. They’re always learning, experimenting, and seeking a deeper understanding of the mysteries surrounding undeath.

They’re absolutely fascinating and incredible beings, and we at S&S are very excited for them to join our graveyard companion family!
