Imperial Mers of the Forbidden Sea
This group of Mers reside in an ocean that’s not arctic, or tropical but more temperate. Their cities are majestic with incredible and detailed architecture, as reference on our world something like Cologne Cathedral would fall short of the architecture they create. They can take up to a thousand years for just one building. They have grand and majestic palaces, and their cities are marvelous, refined and regal. Their artisans are incredible and they have ancient histories. These are noble mers with powerful energies. The warriors of this group are trained to defend the wonder and beauty of this place. They don’t allow many insiders in and to be matched with one means to be allowed into this space, but this is generally a rare thing. They don’t allow many people to enter their cities, and these Mers can appear superior or standoffish to outsiders. They preserve their culture and have great pride in it. They know themselves, their power, and worth. These Mers are empowering as they believe in their skills and abilities.
The Imperial Mers of the Forbidden Sea know how to conduct powerful ocean magick and command the currents. If a ship gets too close to their domain, they will sink them. Sometimes they have spies that identify treasure on ships which they will then sink to get this treasure. Around their cities are massive storms to deter outsiders, but over their cities it is calm to keep their domain safe. They are great at dealing with intruders and keeping places safe and shielded. They know how to conduct powerful storm magick and their warriors help maintain it. There are incredible gatherings and celebrations, performances, art, drama, song in their cities and they love living in this world of abundance. They can help their companions feel and exist in states of abundance. They have beautiful kelp gardens and beautiful sea life around them that adds to the wonder of it. They are like a high society Mer that are a very sophisticated and regal group.
